I'm so happy to share that my morning numbers has been down; however, I didn't want to say anything until I received my A1C number which was 4.8. I received my lab work results today. The Endocrinologist felt my numbers were a little high in the mornings for the past few weeks because I wasn't sleeping due to hot flashes, especially after losing 20 lbs. I met Ms. Grace White through a program that my doctor invited me to attend, Diabetes Prevention. Well I was totally impressed and surprised by the different types of food that I was intaking that I thought was good for me in moderation and actually was hurting me. I learned to discipline myself to read the labels and to look for not only the calories but salt and sugar levels. Since being in the program my cholesterol has gone down significantly. I am working on the glucose and A1C levels to go down. My water intake has increased and I have decreased my juice intake as well. I learned to first eat my vegetables first and to limit the carbs but make sure I have the right portion of protein. The importance of prevention is so vital to our healthy eating habits and lifestyle. I choose to live and to live more healthier and to know what my limits are. I now find myself considering sweets such as cheesecake and yellow cake with chocolate icing and banana pudding...is it worth my glucose levels to increase to satisfy my needs or should I consider a piece of fruit instead. Ms. Grace taught us to make wise decisions for us to live and for that I really appreciate her depositing into our lives.
